The Ortho Sleep mattress is perfect for anyone who is looking for a high-quality firm mattress. Alongside the materials and systems used, this mattress is hand-tufted to keep the miracoil system as effective as ever and keep materials in place.
Miracoil springs
Silentnight have researched and developed their own way to create a supportive mattress. It’s called the miracoil system, which is essentially lots of interwoven springs that run vertically along a mattress. Normally, open coil spring systems are similar but run horizontally along the bed. This decreases the chance of ‘roll-together’ and gives the mattress a firm feel, hence why it has been rated firmer on the firmness scale.
Fibres and materials
If you’re looking for a mattress that ticks the comfort boxes as well as the anti-allergy box? Well this mattress could be right up your street as the mattress is filled with EcoComfort fibres, which are scientifically proven to reduce mites and allergens. Alongside this, they can reduce heat and wick away extra moisture. The mattress is finessed with a soft damask cover, which allows the mattress to breathe out extra heat and moisture.

Is a firmer mattress suitable for me?
A firmer mattress is designed for people who are of a larger statures and back sleepers. For the latter, back sleepers will receive proper support for the lower back which helps promote healthy spinal alignment. As for the former, a firmer mattress will give people of a larger weight group better support and ensures weight will be evenly distributed across the mattress. You’ll wake up feeling like you’ve been properly supported throughout the night without aches and pains if you fit into either of these categories.
I’m a front sleeper – what’s the best mattress for me?
Evidently some of this comes down to preference. Front sleeping is said to put extra pressure on your spine and neck which can cause you to wake up feeling achey. However if you can’t kick this sleeping position to the curb, a firmer mattress will better support your spinal alignment than softer mattresses.
What makes a good quality firm mattress?
If the mattress neither gets firmer nor softer over a period of prolonged use, then it’s certainly of a good standard. Silentnight have incorporated their own design of an open coil spring system, which has been designed in such a way to combat the woes of a standard bonnel spring mattress. As the coils run in a continuous wire length ways across the mattress, the chances of roll together are decreased and it will feel firmer for longer.
